Land-Drill at Edinbugh Castle for Tattoo Grandstands

Land-Drill Geotechnics has been carrying out a ground investigation at the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. The works comprise drilling several boreholes through the Esplanade, Moat and Gardens to assess the ground for the new Tattoo Grandstand. The Company is honoured to have been commissioned for this prestigious work on behalf of Edinburgh Military Tattoo Limited.

Edinburgh Castle is a major tourist attraction throughout the year. The site work had to be carried out in such a way as to minimise the temporary impact on this World Heritage Site and always be aware that Edinburgh Castle represents Scotland in the minds of people throughout the world. In addition, the work had to be completed within a tight, four week window, before the main tourist season and erection of the existing Tattoo grandstand.

All movements of plant and machinery had to be undertaken outwith "tourist-hours". Crane lifts and moving of barrier fences were required for nearly all borehole positions. The work was planned and supervised in detail by Land-Drill engineers throughout. Using the Company's trademark of efficient and enthusiastic work, the investigation was completed a full week ahead of schedule.

There are few ground investigation contractors who could have been entrusted with this highly sensitive work and this commission is a mark of the trust our Clients have in the professionalism of Land-Drill in all our operations.
