How Do They Work?

A looped pipe is installed in a borehole and the annulus is backfilled with a thermally enhanced grout. A pump circulates the fluid around the looped pipe and the geothermal energy is absorbed. The energy is then extracted by the heat exchanger and the fluid is re-circulated,.This gives you a highly efficient system providing heating, cooling, and hot water.

A 30% grant, up to a maximum of £4000, towards installation is available from the Scottish Community and Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI), although accredited installers and products need to be used.
